Well that makes sense doesn’t it? We as humans tend to over think.. EVERYTHING. I know I do. I lose sleep over it. I lose work over it. Heck I’ve lost a lot over it. The problem with over thinking things is that we start to create problems that are not necessarily there. For instance.. the WHAT IFS. “What if I’m not good enough?” “What if someone beat me to it?” “What if I’m wrong?” Then fear sets in. Fear is an unnecessary evil that we all need to stay away from. Have courage to fail in order to succeed! Remember that we only tend to regret the chances we didn’t take. Even the worst of decisions ever made always turn out to be not regretted but used as a learning experience. So instead of spending time over thinking use that time to take a step forward.

Hmm.. What makes me come alive? My ultimate high is the response I receive when I tell people how Tribe Unity connects passionate people like themselves with other driven people to help each other grow in this industry. We can be that extra push they need. Or that pick me up after reality got in the way. With the tools the masterminds and I have we can offer personal advice and with our internship program we have ways to get the right Tribals (You) connected to people already in the Big League. We also host, run, and attend many events to give anyone who wants it a chance to network and learn from behind the scenes. Its that sigh of relief they give me that vision of their eyes being lit up with so much hope and passion. Its knowing that we (Tribe Unity) just gained another Tribal to join our journey to success.
What makes you come alive? I would love to hear it. Oh and hey! If you would like more information about our events, internships, or just wanna talk.. email me at tribeunityinfo@gmail.com.
In this industry we constantly ask. How? Where do I start? And then come up with a million what ifs. Like what if I actually suck. Or who am i for people to listen to? Then before we know it were just tired psychologically and then physically. So nothing ever really gets done.
How do we overcome this? Just take a step.. Do something positive. I personally decided that before I went on my rampage of opening a billion windows on my Mac that the first thing I’ll do is open something positive. So I look up quotes like the one above and blogs like this one to start my day. I take it as my morning pill that keeps me going throughout the day.
Tell me what you do to start your productive day? I’m sure we would all love to know it!
Are you going to succeed because you return emails a few minutes faster, tweet a bit more often and stay at work an hour longer than anyone else?
I think that’s unlikely. When you push to turn intellectual work into factory work (which means more showing up and more following instructions) you’re racing to the bottom.
It seems to me that you will succeed because you confronted and overcame anxiety and the lizard brain better than anyone else. Perhaps because you overcame inertia and actually got significantly better at your craft, even when it was uncomfortable because you were risking failure. When you increase your discernment, maximize your awareness of the available options and then go ahead and ship work that scares others… that’s when you succeed.
More time on the problem isn’t the way. More guts is. When you expose yourself to the opportunities that scare you, you create something scarce, something others won’t do.
How to be a leader others want to follow.
Examples abound of poor leadership. Who hasn’t had a teacher or boss who invoked feelings of disrespect? A positive leader is someone who inspires, motivates, energizes and unites, while generating loyalty and producing results. In his article for the Toastmaster magazine, Victor Parachin offers 10 rules on how to be that kind of leader:
- Give more than you expect others to give.
- Combine optimism and perseverance.
- See everyone as a diamond in the rough.
- Express appreciation; accept responsibility.
- Keep your ego in check.
- Show respect for the people around you.
- Treat team members as family.
- Be a source of inspiration.
- Stress cooperation, not competition.
- Maintain a sense of humor.

Just came across some great advice on Lisa Davis’ site
Thought we should share it with you!
Its important to realize that making records is one aspect of your career. What you want is to create an overall brand. That is the job of the artist and their manager.
The artist/manager is the most critical relationship there is because your manager is the artist’s voice in the business community. Record label, A&R, PR, radio, agents, promoters, you name it – their main interface is with your manager, and so is yours.
Do not sign away your publishing!
Don’t ever loose sight of your money. Your manager should not handle your finances either.
Do not sign anything that even suggests that someone else will handle your online identity - this includes website, online merchandise sales, etc. This is the primary vehicle to your brand. Don’t give away your future.
